About the label

NEXTGEN LATINX RECORDS – A LABEL BY ARTISTS, FOR ARTISTS.

The concept isn’t new—but the need for it in the Tejano and Latinx music world has never been greater.

Most labels chase numbers. We chase truth in sound. At NextGen Latinx Records, we believe that when artists are given full creative control, magic happens. No formulas. No red tape. Just honest, passionate, genre-bending music that connects.

Before we were producers, arrangers, or label execs—we were fans. Music didn’t just entertain us; it shaped us, healed us, and became our purpose. And during the isolation of 2020, when the world hit pause, music kept us going. That’s when we knew: we had to build something new. A label powered by artists, built on collaboration, and committed to redefining Latinx music—from Tejano to cumbia, Chicano soul to spooky pop.

We launched NextGen Latinx Records in late 2020 with the debut EP by Veronique Medrano, a fresh and fearless voice in Tejano, and the response was immediate—rave reviews, strong streaming numbers, and a wave of momentum that hasn’t let up since.

In 2021, we released Trio Meets Tejano by Trio Los Tres Torres, a one-of-a-kind romantic reinterpretation of iconic Tejano hits. The album featured legends like Little Joe, Esteban Jordan, Jesse Serrata, Johnny Hernandez, Ruben Ramos, Ram Herrera, David Mares, Tony Guerrero, Joe Jama, and Emilio Guerrero—a dream lineup that paid tribute to the genre’s rich legacy.

That same year, we also released Así Me Gusta, a stunning instrumental accordion album by Julian Olivarez, showcasing the beauty and technical mastery of the instrument in its purest form.

We also released "My Special Medley", a tribute to the late great Jimmy Edward. This medley, which honors his classic 1978 album, was produced by Mike Torres III and John Ontiveros with Jimmy Edward Jr. and features vocalists Ram Herrera, Chente Barrera, Mike Torres III, Roger Velasquez, and the unmistakable sound of Jimmy’s original bass player Roy Paniagua. It also includes David Delagarza III, keyboard player for La Mafia and son of Jimmy’s original keyboard player, David "Speedy" Delagarza.

2023 brought Presentando by LA 45, a powerful new chapter for the band that delivered two No. 1 hits on Tejano radio and reaffirmed our mission to push the culture forward while honoring its roots.

2024 was a landmark year. We proudly released the first-ever solo album by Jaime De Anda, formerly of Los Chamacos. Titled Volando Solo, the emotional and explosive record was hailed as a career milestone. That same year, we also welcomed back a living legend: Little Henry Lee, whose album Melodies & Memories marked his first Chicano release in over 20 years. It was a soulful return to form and a testament to the lasting power of Chicano artistry.

We also expanded our soundscape in exciting new directions:

Llamativa, an all-female cumbia group from San Antonio, made a bold entrance with their debut single Agua Loca, bringing infectious rhythm, fierce energy, and a fresh female perspective to the genre.

Nikki Rey y Quemazón dropped Sucedió, a stunning concept album of spooky-cumbia pop—a sonic journey through family legends, ghost stories, and Latinx folklore. The record blurred genre lines and turned heads for its originality and haunting grooves.

And award-winning vocalist Alicia C joined the label with a powerful reimagining of the Selena classic Si Una Vez. A tribute to the Queen of Tex-Mex, Alicia’s version honored the legacy while giving the anthem a bold, contemporary twist.

In March 2025, we released Desde San Antonio by Los Chicanos, a true conjunto party album packed with energy, heart, and irresistible dance rhythms—an album that brings the fiesta straight to your ears.

Every release is a reflection of our core belief: music comes first. We help artists find their voice, develop their sound, and share it with the world—on their terms. And we trust that by staying true to the art, the right listeners will follow.

2025 is already shaping up to be another breakout year, with even more genre-defying projects in the works. If you've been riding with us—thank you. If you're just joining us—welcome to the movement.

Let’s keep making music that matters.
